Reading
Time allowed: 60 minutes
This sub-test contains two texts on health-related issues. You are required to answer between 10 and 14 multiple choice questions per text, recording your answers on a special answer sheet. The answer sheet is scanned by computer and the data analysed. |
Listening
Time allowed: 50 minutes
For this sub-test you listen to a recording in two parts. Part A is a consultation between a health professional and a patient. You are required to take notes under given headings. Part B is a lecture on a health-related issue. There is a range of listening tasks to complete. Pauses in the recording allow you time to write the answers. The Listening sub-test is marked by assessors who receive comprehensive training before each administration.

Speaking
Time allowed: 25 minutes
Profession specific
For the Speaking sub-test you take your professional role in two separate role-plays with an interviewer. The whole interview, including a brief warm-up session, is recorded. Two assessors independently mark each speaking recording.
The written papers are normally scheduled in the morning starting at 9.00 am. The Listening, Reading and Writing sub-tests are completed by 1.00pm. The individual Speaking interviews are timetabled for the afternoon, from around 1.00 pm until 6.00 pm. You must be available for the whole of this period; the exact time of your interview is sent to you with the detailed venue information.
